Τα πλοία πρέπει να απολαμβάνουν δικαίωμα διέλευσης μέσω του Στενών του Ορμούζ σύμφωνα με το διεθνές δίκαιο, όπως αποτυπώνεται στη Σύμβαση των Ηνωμένων Εθνών για το Δίκαιο της Θάλασσας (UNCLOS), ανέφερε η Αναπληρώτρια Μόνιμη Αντιπρόσωπος της Κύπρου στον ΟΗΕ, Γαβριέλλα Μιχαηλίδου.
